Virgin snow

It's white out right now. We received a dusting of snow over night. It's pretty. It always is, before anyone walks or drives through it. Lori will like it, when she awakens later this morning.

Wimp or Paid to Lie Down?

We watched the Mike Tyson vs. Etienne fight on Showtime Saturday night. Now, I don't watch many fights. I've seen two or three my whole life. I've just never been into them. But, with Tyson fighting, I figured it might be an interesting event, what, with the biting and all. Boy, was I wrong. What a let-down.

Forty nine seconds. One good punch and Etienne lays on the ground. He was aware enough to take out his mouth piece. And he got up right at the end of the count.

So I ask... was this fight's outcome pre-arranged? It sure looked that way. I've read the articles printed after the fight, and it does sound like Etienne is a big enough wimp to just fall down. After all, he's known for that.

So that begs the question, why would Tyson want to fight Etienne? He should have known that he wasn't going to be a challenge. It had to all be for the money, for both fighters.

And then there was the whole "broken back" thing after the fight. Does Tyson even know what a broken back is? What a moron.

A View from the Outside In

Someone wanted to say "Hi" to the world. This is one of my future daughters, via ultrasound. We were able to see both girls today. They gave us pictures of both of them, but this is the only one that really turned out good. They weigh almost 5 lbs. a piece, and are 33 weeks, so far. Hopefully they are still at least 3 weeks away from being born, with the actual target date in April.

Just wanted to give you a peek into what's going on. Click on this link for a larger view.

We're in a Bubble

All the snow that is falling and we don't get any. My sister is stuck in the snow at home in Ohio, while our yard here features brown grass. There's a little snow around the edges of the yard, but that will be gone in a few days. Lori would love for it to snow. She likes to watch it fall and make everything oh-so-pretty. We've hardly had any this year, which is fine by me. I haven't had to shovel anything for quite a while.

Inspiration

We watched "Notting Hill" tonight on TV. We don't usually watch theater releases when they are broadcast on the big four networks, but there wasn't much else on tonight. I hate how they break up the movies for commercials. It ruins the flow.

Anyway, I hadn't seen this one before, and I'm a sucker for a Julia Roberts movie, so we watched it. It was really good. Reminded me of the old days, when I dreamed of writing movies like it. I never did write the movies that yearned inside of me, but seeing this one struck a chord that hasn't been struck in a long time.

So now I have a new goal. Along with everything else that is going on in my life right now, I'm going to start writing again. It sort of started months ago with this journal. But now, I'm going to get serious. I'm going to make time for writing. When I can, right now. Then, a little every day. Eventually, I'll have a collection of writings. Maybe someday, I'll have something to sell. Whether or not I sell anything, at least I'll have something to show my kids. So they can see that their father did something that he felt he was meant to do. He followed his dreams.

No, it was more than this movie tonight. It was a number of things leading up to this moment. Desire. Frustration. Lack of expression. Wanting more from life. The ability to live on past my mortality. And the power of dreams.

Getting ready for two

Lori and I went out and registered at Babies-R-Us and Target not too long ago, and yesterday Lori ordered a double stroller with baby car seats. Things are starting to roll, with only two months left to go.

Ups and downs

Welcome me back. I'm back on the Internet after five days without Internet access. I messed up my satellite Internet connection after using PartitionMagic on my hard drive. I could not get things working again, so I re-partitioned my whole drive and started over from scratch. Scary stuff. That did solve the problem with the satellite connection, though. Now, I'm slowly adding back only the software that I used alot, as opposed to the hundred or so programs I had on my computer that were just slowing it down. I still have to track down a few programs, but the computer is a whole lot speedier as a result of starting over. A little early "Spring cleaning," if you will. Now, I've got to get back to cleaning out the computer room for the babies.
