A Clear View of the Southern Sky

I've got my DirePC satellite Internet connection up and running again. It's been disconnected since March, when I moved my computer setup from the back room to make a spot for the babies. I worked on it for a couple of hours Saturday, running the coaxial cable through the basement and up to the new location. Boy, it's nice. I had started getting used to the slower dial-up speeds. That, and I avoided graphic-intensive sites. But now, look out. I can go anywhere again.

For those that are not familiar with it, the DirecPC system is a satellite dish that you mount on your house so that you can receive your Internet stream via satellite. It is about the only high speed option for those of us living out in the country without access to cable or DSL. Hughes, the people who own DirecPC, is changing everything over to Direcway. I'm waiting for my conversion kit to come via the mail. I'm expecting some new hardware to install. Shouldn't be too difficult.

I have the one-way system. That means that I dial-up via telephone and receive information through the satellite. My current download speed is 536 kbps. Not too shabby.

Starve a fever? Feed a cold?

The girls are suffering through their first colds. Runny nose, coughing, fevers. Gracie had it first and the worst. Lillie just has a fever at this point. Lori had it all first, and may be getting it again. As for me, I'm just hanging out, taking care of everyone.

Lori wants to know why I never get sick. I can't really answer that. I got my flu shots three years in a row a few years back, and then again this past Fall. Since then, I don't get sick very often. But to be in a house full of sick people, and not get anything from them...I'm counting my blessings.

Signs of Spring

Bunny0450_sm.jpg

The other day, Lori and I heard this loud squeal out in the front yard. At first, we thought it was some bird building a nest near the house. Upon further investigation, I discovered this little creature being chased and toyed with by my cat, Newman. I promptly rescued the little bunny, and after letting it calm down and feel safe, I drove it out to the back of the field, far away from my cats. I stopped at a little clearing, where I saw two large deer escape into the woods as I took the bunny from my truck. The girls will be glad to hear that Thumper and Bambi live on the edge of our field. I do love Spring. And nature.

One Great Big Hug

I just had to share this photo with you. It's one of my favorites. Gracie loves to fall to sleep laying on my chest. Sometimes that is the only way to get her to settle down for the evening. Suits me just fine. I love spending time with her and Lillie.

The Beauty of Slumber

Secret 0338_sm.jpgSleeping 0400_sm.jpg

For those interested, here's a couple more of the girls sleeping. I have so many more pictures of the girls sleeping. The pictures of them with their eyes open are rare so far.

By the way, I would love to know who is visiting this web site. If you would, please leave a message by clicking on "Comments" under this entry and then filling out the appropriate information. I look forward to hearing from you.

Tea for Two

Gracie 0414_sm.jpgLillie 0393_sm.jpg

Here are a couple pics of Lillie and Grace taken within the last month. They will be six weeks old come Monday. They are both over seven pounds now and growing more every day. It's funny, how they are starting to outgrow their smallest clothes, yet the hats that came with them are still huge. (Note Lillie's hat on the right.) I can't imagine a tiny baby with a head large enough to fill one of these hats. That must be an interesting site.

Thank you for visiting

I'm back after about a month's absence. Sorry for the delay, and thanks for your patience. Life with the twins has just left little time for anything else. I have been taking lots of pictures, and I will try to upload some of them in the near future.

Lori and the twins went to their first shower today, and that gave me a little time to prepare some photos for display here. So, without further wait, here we go.
