Well, here it is the week before Christmas. All of the presents are bought (not yet wrapped), which is new for me, a registered Christmas eve shopper. We bought many of the presents over the Internet, and have received all of them except one. Unfortunately, it's one for Gracie, but I was promised that I would have it before Christmas.
In true Grinch fashion, I have finally disabled the "comments" ability of this blog. After receiving over 9000 inappropriate comments, I finally figured out how to turn them off. Yea!
Sorry that I haven't posted in so long. Life has taken priority.
Happy Holidays!
Hello. Sorry that it's been so long since I last wrote. So much has changed in the meantime.
I went back to work in the middle of April, and therefore the girls entered daycare. It was a big change for all of us. And, wouldn't you know it, as soon as the girls stepped foot in daycare, they came down with a virus. They've been sick for two weeks now. Lillie seems to be almost over hers, but Gracie is still fighting the virus. As for daycare, they really seem to enjoy it when they are there. At first, they hated to come home to our small house, but I think they are finally getting into the daily routine now. We'll see how it goes when they both are well again.
As for pictures on this site, I am experiencing technical difficulties. I hope to have the problems worked out soon so I can resume posting photos. In the meantime, thanks for your patience.
Here are the girls in their matching Snoopy sleepers. Since they are twins, and even though they are not identical, we still like to dress them alike. Even when we are just staying home. A year ago, it wasn't much fun for me when we dressed them alike, because I could not tell them apart. But now, they look so different. I'm just amazed when we take them out in public that people still say they look alike. I just don't see it anymore.
Here are Grace and Lillie showing off some of their newest additions. Lillie loves to grind her teeth together, much to her mother's dismay. I don't mind, because I do it too. She probably got it from me! It's funny how many things they pick up from us. Gracie grunts when she is given food she likes. Lillie makes me pucker up before she'll give me a kiss. Gracie beats on her chest, after seeing me beat out a rhythm on my belly. And it goes on. It's cute, and it makes you aware of the little things you do.
This is what it looks like when I walk into the girls room every morning. They are always so happy to see me. Some days they are more happy than others, but they are always happy. It makes me look forward to going and getting them.
Here are two extremely closeup shots of the girls as they peer into the camera. It doesn't get much more personal than that.
The girls are doing fine these days. Almost all remnants of their colds are gone, except for a few sniffles here and there. And did I mention that Lillie walked unaided on Wednesday and Friday? She's about a month behind Gracie in the walking department, yet they are both at about the same ability. Pretty soon, it will be me that can't keep up!
I just wanted to show off a couple of outfits I bought the girls. I haven't bought them many clothes; Lori usually takes care of that. Well, actually, neither of us have had to buy them many clothes yet; we're still going through clothes that they received as shower gifts. As a matter of fact, earlier today, I stuffed Lillie into a sleeper made for 3-6 month olds. It was pretty snug. It's probably time to retire that sleeper, but it was cute, so I put her in it one more time. The selection is getting thin, so that means it's laundry time again this weekend.
Since it's leap day, I thought I would bring you a couple earlier photos of the girls. You'll notice that Lillie is only showing one of her new teeth in the photo on the right.
We really didn't do anything special on this extra day. The girls are still getting over their colds, while Lori and I are still sufferring. That said, they are still very clingy and tired, and it took the two of us to keep them entertained today. Lori thinks tomorrow might be hard for me if they are still feeling a little under the weather. The way I see it, maybe we'll have an extra nap or two to help get us through the day. Maybe we'll do something special when they are feeling better.
The girls have a little bit of a cold, but it hasn't slowed them down much. They are supposed to go to a get-together this morning with Lori, if they are feeling up to it.
The weather here has been beautiful, reaching the mid-50s lately. It's incredibly warm for February. Yea! Unfortunately, I didn't get the girls outside when there was snow on the ground. So, they may have to wait until next year to explore the white stuff. That's okay. We'll get them a sled and have even more fun when they are walking next winter. I'm sure that they will enjoy it more then, anyway.
The girls wanted to wish everyone a special day on their first St. Valentine's Day.
They are doing really well. Gracie has started walking a little bit, and both girls have tons of teeth coming in (at least three each)! Other than that, things have been pretty routine. February is always pretty cold, so we're staying in, keeping warm, and waiting for March to come. March is a pretty special month, seeing as it is the girls' birthday and mine, too. They also have an aunt and an uncle that celebrate birthdays in March. So, as you can see, March is pretty busy. Hopefully, it will also be sunny and starting to get a little bit warmer. We can only wait and see.
This is what the girls wore to a baby shower a couple of weeks ago. Don't they look cute?
They had a great time playing with their Grammy this morning. It seems like they are getting much more social with people other than their parents. They used to be just Mommy and Daddy's girls, but I can see that changing some.
Lillie has three teeth coming in now, while Gracie has two showing through. They are going to look so different with toothy smiles!
Here's a couple of pictures of Grace and Lillie at their happiest moments. As a matter of fact, they are happy alot. And that's a good thing, because I love happy babies. I love grumpy babies, too, but they are more fun when they're happy.
And speaking of happy babies, they just love going up to their grandparents' house. There's more room to crawl around up there, and they take full advantage of it.
By the way, Go Panthers! I just hope it's a good game. And I'm looking forward to the commercials.
Here are the girls in their new highchairs. They are Graco Neat Seat Reclining Highchairs, in case you're curious (but I don't think they make them anymore). The girls seem to like them. They have room to move, and they catch most of the food. The girls' favorite features are the toys that mount onto the tray. All of the toys squeak or whistle, which the girls love. It gets a little noisy during the meals, but that's okay.
Both of the girls are getting their first teeth. Lillie has one about a third of the way up and another one breaking the skin. Gracie has her first one popping through right now. They are dealing with it pretty well. I haven't noticed much extra gnawing going on, although about a week ago they were both a little extra cranky. But all is pretty good now.
I finally put together their high chairs over the weekend, so now the girls can sit at the dinner table with us while we eat. They love eating little bits of our grown-up food and being able to see us during dinner. We were using booster seats before this, sitting them on the couch and feeding them there. The high chairs are much better.
The girls woke up a little hard the other morning, and Lori quickly grabbed the camera to preserve the moment. Poor Gracie. I'm sure she'll get even with us someday. Oh well.
